DESCRIPTION:It is well known that the phase space empirical measure of a N
-particle system couples via a binary potential\nand evolving according to
Newton's second law of motion is a weak solution of the Vlasov equation f
or the\nmean-field\, self-consistent potential. The purpose of this talk i
s (1) to define a quantum analogue of the notion\nof phase space empirical
measure\, (2) to study the equation governing its evolution\, and (3) to
use it to prove\nthe mean-field limit for a system of N quantum particles
with a convergence rate which is independent of the\nPlanck constant. (Wor
k in collaboration with T. Paul)
