DESCRIPTION:Innovation Seminar Series Talk - online\n \n"Building a Displa
y Technology”\nDr Jeremy Burroughes\, CTO at Cambridge Display Technolog
y\n\nAbout the speaker\nJeremy is a physicist and engineer who has made va
luable contributions to the development of plastic - or organic - electron
ics. His work on the science of semiconducting polymers and molecules\, as
well as their diverse applications\, has enabled the growth of numerous n
ew technologies. The discovery of this previously unknown form of electrol
uminescence led to the foundation of Cambridge Display Technology where\,
as Chief Technology Officer\, Jeremy has been responsible for numerous tec
hnology innovations\, including the direct printing of full-colour OLED di
splays. Jeremy has been widely recognised for his high-impact work\, and i
n 2009 was made a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. In 2002\, he
was one of the winners of the academy’s prestigious MacRobert Award\, a
nd he shared the 2005 Society for Information Display’s Jan Rajchman Pri
ze for his discovery of polymer LEDs.\n\nAbout the company\nCambridge Disp
lay Technology (CDT) pioneered the development of polymer (organic) light
emitting diode (P-OLED) technology and its use in electronic displays and
lighting. CDT was spun out in 1992 from the Cavendish Laboratory at the Un
iversity of Cambridge\, and floated on the NASDAQ National Market in 2004.
CDT became part of Sumitomo Chemical in 2007. Following the acquisition\,
CDT focused its efforts on getting P-OLED technology ready for market. Th
ey successfully completed the development of printable OLED materials and
transferred the technology to Sumitomo Chemical for large scale manufactur
ing and commercialisation.\n\nPlease register for the event here bit.ly/3H
