DESCRIPTION:Palaeogenomics\, or the genome-scale application of ancient DN
A\, is revolutionizing our understanding of the evolution and ecology of e
xtinct megafauna that lived in northern ecosystems. We can now test palaeo
ntological hypotheses concerning megafaunal speciation and systematics\, a
s well as test newly accessible hypotheses such as population and admixtur
e histories. In this talk\, I will showcase how palaeogenomic data from ti
ssues and sediments are enriching our knowledge of megafaunal history over
the past million years using recently published examples from horses\, ma
 mmoths\, and bears.
