DESCRIPTION:This talk is based on joint work with Charney and Morris-Wrigh
 t (https://arxiv.org/abs/2007.12156). I will motivate the study of Artin m
 onoids before outlining our construction of the monoid Deligne complex\, w
 hich generalises the notion of Deligne complexes for Artin groups. I will 
 discuss geometric properties of this complex\, including the fact that the
  monoid Deligne complex is always contractible\, with a locally isometric 
 embedding into the Deligne complex of the corresponding Artin group.
