DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I will make the case for why and how mathematic
ians should consider using their quantitative skills to work on biological
problems. We will discuss how these problems might be extremely important
to work on\, but also why one should be very careful with its ethical imp
lications. I will share my experience so far in my PhD\, researching (covi
 d) epidemic and evolutionary dynamics\, and more broadly being involved in
the field of epidemic modelling\, where mathematicians now have become in
volved with public-health policy and science communication.
