DESCRIPTION:The Cambridge Service Systems Forum is pleased to invite you t
 o a presentation by Professor Stephen L. Vargo\, Distinguished Professor a
t the University of Hawaii\, Manoa. \n\nIn 2004 the Journal of Marketing
published a paper entitled “Evolving to a New Dominant Logic for Marketi
ng\,” by Professors Stephen Vargo and Robert Lusch. The foundational pr
 oposition of Service-Dominant (S-D) Logic is that organisations\, markets\
, and society are fundamentally concerned with exchange of service – the
applications of competences (knowledge and skills) for the benefit of a p
arty. By implication\, S-D Logic also challenges the traditional way busi
nesses are organised and managed\; the way value is (co)created with the c
ustomer through its processes\; how various stakeholders are value co-crea
tors rather than merely resources\; and the notion of assets when resource
s are intangible\, networked and complex (accounting).\n\nThis research me
eting will encourage engagement between different research communities thr
ough dialogue on S-D Logic and its interdisciplinary implications. Partic
ipants are requested to read Vargo & Lusch (2004\, 2008) in advance and pa
rticipate in the research meeting by discussing how S-D Logic would relate
to their service research interest. Participants are also encouraged to
build a research agenda during the discussion and plenary as an output of
the research meeting and make the most of the opportunity to inform their
research ideas in single and interdisciplinary studies.\n\nProgramme:\n\n9
