DESCRIPTION:Queer(y)ing the Past – LGBT+ History Month event\n\nCo-organ
ised by the University of Cambridge Archaeological Field Club\, the Depart
ment of Archaeology's annual LGBT+ History Month explores the topics of se
xuality\, gender and archaeological practice.\n\nSpeaker: Gabriela Oré Me
néndez\, Vanderbilt University \n\n"Redefining (my) archaeological pract
ice through queer lenses"\n\nAbstract: As a discipline\, Archaeology is un
 dergoing a self-critical reflection on inclusivity\, diversity\, multivoca
lity\, accessibility\, and the acknowledgment of colonialist practices wit
hin the field. In addition\, archaeologists are considering the impacts of
how we practice archaeology\, the types of research questions we get to a
sk\, and who is asking them. In that context\, I lean into Queer Theory to
redefine the way we approach archaeology. From the research approach to t
he methodology to data interpretation\, I reflect on how the future might
look\, and how this transformation is happening and is pushed by personal
histories.\n\nPlease join us on Zoom for this live event. All are welcome\
, but registration is required. \n\nPlease register here: https://cam-ac-u
