DESCRIPTION:Jan Löwe completed his PhD under Robert Huber at the Max Plan
 ck Institute before moving to the LMB in Cambridge for an EMBO fellowship 
 with Linda Amos. Continuing at the LMB\, he soon became a group leader and
  joint head of the structural studies division before becoming the Directo
 r in 2018. Jan is renowned for his work on the bacterial cytoskeleton wher
 e he was the first to identify actin and tubulin homologs. His group have 
 also solved the structure of numerous other proteins such as the SMC compl
 ex and human thyroglobulin.
