DESCRIPTION:Elliptic modular forms are crucial to the understanding of man
 y phenomena in number theory. Their counterpart over totally real number f
 ields\, Hilbert modular forms\, capture finer arithmetic properties of suc
 h number fields. By the work Darmon-Pozzi-Vonk\, the first-order deformati
 on of a certain Hilbert modular form gives rise to an elliptic modular for
 m whose spectral expansion contains both Gross-Stark units and Stark-Heegn
 er points. This can be interpreted as an example of explicit class field t
 heory over a real quadratic field. We give an explicit algorithm in the re
 al-quadratic case\, and discuss some ongoing work on extending the results
 .
