 \n\nPlease join us on Friday 25 February for a special pre-launch event to
  a flagship speaker series coming to Magdalene later in the year. We are d
 elighted to announce that Visiting Fellow of Magdalene College and one of 
 the country's leading chemical weapons and bio security experts\, Hamish d
 e Bretton Gordon OBE\, will be in conversation with broadcaster and Sociol
 ogy PhD\, Dr Saleyha Ahsan to examine past\, current and future global thr
 eats to bio security and mitigations against them.\n\nThe speaker series h
 as been developed by Dr Adam Coutts\, Research Associate in the Department
  of Sociology and a Senior Research Fellow at Magdelene College together w
 ith Dr Saleyha Ahsan\, PhD student and emergency clinician.\n\nAbout the s
 peakers\n\nFor thirty years\, Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon OBE has ser
 ved and volunteered in conflict zones around the world. Hamish has unearth
 ed evidence of multiple chemical attacks in the current Syrian conflict an
 d continues to advise the government at the highest level\, including afte
 r the 2018 Novichok poisoning in Salisbury. Hamish was formerly a British 
 Army officer for 23 years and commanding officer of the UK's Joint Chemica
 l\, Biological and Nuclear Regiment and NATO's Rapid Reaction CBRN Battali
 on. He is the author of Chemical Warrior.\n\nDr Saleyha Ahsan is a broadca
 st journalist (BBC\, Channel 4\, ITV) and emergency medicine doctor. She i
 s currently studying for a PhD with the Department of Sociology examining 
 the impact of attacks against healthcare in armed conflict. Saleyha is a f
 ormer British Army officer\, having served with the Royal Army Medical Cor
 ps\, and saw operational service in Bosnia assigned to the NATO Stabilisat
