DESCRIPTION:Cambridge University Astronomical Society invite you to join u
s for this year's main event. Professor Sir Martin Rees\, the Astronomer R
oyal\, Master of Trinity College and President of the Royal Society will b
e giving us an exciting overview of the future of Astronomy as he sees it.
\n\nAs author of more than 500 research papers and winner of numerous priz
es for his work\, Professor Rees is one of the most well known Astronomers
in the UK. He has made important contributions to the origin of the Cosmi
c Microwave Background radiation\, as well as to galaxy clustering and for
mation. His studies of the distribution of quasars helped disprove steady
state theory. He was also one of the first to propose that enormous black
holes power quasars._\n\nWith so many new unknowns being introduced to Ast
ronomy over the past few years\, such as dark matter\, dark energy and the
ories for the beginning of the universe\, the future of Astronomy looks to
be an exciting one. Be the first to hear predictions from one of the most
influential Astronomers of our time.\n\nWe know this talk will be popular
so we've hired out a bigger lecture theatre. In addition\, it is going to
be FREE for everyone! We look forward to seeing you there.
