DESCRIPTION:We construct renewal processes by means of relaxation equation
 s with fractional derivatives\, defined according to the general fractiona
 l calculus introduced by Kochubei in 2011 and developed by many other&nbsp
 \;authors. In particular\, the alpha-order case is treated and extended by
  considering alpha varying in time. In the variable order case\, some of t
 he properties of both the derivative and the related process are retained\
 , while the link with stable subordinators no longer holds.\nJoint work wi
