DESCRIPTION:Fractional-order PID controllers are an extension of standard 
 PID controllers\, which are the most employed feedback controllers in indu
 stry. Different design methodologies will be presented\, providing the per
 formance improvement that can be achieved by exploiting fractional-order i
 ntegral and derivative actions. The fragility of the controller is also di
 scussed. Finally\, the generalized isodamping methodology will be explaine
 d and experimental results obtained in the temperature control of a solar 
 furnace will be shown.&nbsp\;
