DESCRIPTION:Pat is Professor of Cell Signalling and Head of the Department
of Biochemistry and Systems Biology\, Institute of Systems\, Molecular an
d Integrative Biology\, where he runs a multidisciplinary research lab. He
obtained an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Bri
stol\, and completed his PhD with Sir Philip Cohen at the University of Du
ndee in 2000. After 4 years of postdoctoral research in the USA with the l
ate Jim Maller\, he set up his laboratory in the UK with an MRC Career Dev
elopment Fellowship in 2005. His interests include all aspects of protein
phosphorylation and sulfation\, analysis of protein kinase and sulfotransf
erase regulation\, pseudokinases and pseudoenzymes and kinome-wide mechani
sms of acquired drug resistance in cells. He also teaches cell signalling\
, running modules explaining the biochemical mechanisms underpinning cell
