DESCRIPTION:There is not much room for doubt that inflammation is associat
ed with depression and other mental health disorders. However\, there are
many open questions about the causal relationships that might explain the
increasing mass of largely correlational findings. In this somewhat specul
ative talk\, I will explore the idea that early life adversity and other s
ocial stressors could epigenetically reprogramme immune response and brain
developmental trajectories leading to long-term changes in vulnerability
to depression and other mental health disorders in adult life.
