DESCRIPTION:The Marshall Lectures were founded in memory of Alfred Marshal
 l (1842-1924)\, one of the pioneers of modern economic science. They aim t
 o present research developments in economics to a wide audience as well as
  inspiring students to study economics in all its facets.\n\nProf Ariel Ru
 binstein will give two lectures presenting theoretical models where confli
 cts between insatiable wants and limited resources are resolved through so
 cial institutions like 'social status'\, 'power' and 'preference biases' r
 ather than 'prices and money'. The models will differ fundamentally from t
 he standard economic models which focus on prices and games.
