DESCRIPTION:As more and more of our personal and professional communicatio
 n moves online\, effective protection is crucial. This is especially impor
 tant for whistleblowers\, journalists\, and activists who might face state
 -level threat actors. Let’s together explore how “the Internet” work
 s and what hides behind terms like end-to-end encryption\, VPNs\, metadata
  privacy\, the dark web\, and anonymity networks. At the end we use this b
 ackground to look at some projects that are being developed here in Cambri
 dge. This talk is for everyone and no previous knowledge is required.
