DESCRIPTION:Turbulence exhibits long range interactions and has multiple s
cales. Resolving all scales with fine grids implies non-locality is addres
sed by subsequent resolution of local dynamics. However\, if only spatiall
y or temporally averaged fields are solved for computational feasibility o
f real world applications\, then addressing non-locality explicitly become
s important due to absence of information of interactions between two poin
ts. In this work\, the author demonstrates the use of variable order fract
ional derivatives for wall bounded turbulent flows as a closure model whic
h addresses the duality of local and non-local characteristics.
