SUMMARY:What makes our solar system “tick”: A presentation of various
forms of planetary activity in our solar system - Mohamed Ramy El-Maarry (

DESCRIPTION:Decades of space exploration have taught us a lot about planet
ary activity and its various drivers. Planets are gifted with an initial i
nventory of radioactive materials to power their interiors and drive surfa
ce evolution. However\, what these planets\, and indeed other solar system
bodies\, display over the their life-time is nothing short of extraordina
ry\, and at times puzzling. In this talk\, I plan to introduce the multipl
e pathways that solar system bodies can remain active over billions of yea
rs with a wide range of activities. To do that\, I plan to take you with m
e on a virtual journey through our solar system aided with data we have ac
quired from numerous missions\, which have truly expanded our horizons by
deepening\, and challenging\, our understanding of how solar system bodies
  evolve with time.\n\n
