DESCRIPTION:The America’s Cup is the world’s pinnacle yachting competi
 tion\, where every four years teams must design\, build\, and race a cutti
 ng edge yacht in hope of winning the oldest trophy in international sport.
  The sport is a battle of sailing brawn\, brain\, and budget\, but the win
 ner is usually those who have ‘a faster yacht’. Engineering is clearly
  key to success. In this talk we review some of the unique technologies be
 hind the AC75 class\, the challenges faced by the engineering teams\, and 
 the consequences of mistakes. As always\, lunch will be provided.
