 c Cauchy problems with multiplicities and the role played by the lower ord
 er terms (Levi conditions). I will summarise the results obtained in the l
 ast ten years in collaboration with Michael Ruzhansky and discuss some ope
 n problems for higher order hyperbolic equations.\n
