DESCRIPTION:The presentation will first summarize the asymptotics of Päsc
hke et al. (2012) of strongly tilted vortices in gradient wind balance in
the inviscid case and related more recent numerical corroboration by Dörf
fel et al. (2021). The second part will cover a very recent triple-deck bo
undary layer analysis which reveals how friction/diffusion in a near-surfa
ce layer and moist and diabatic processes in an intermediate layer affect
the dynamics of the developing storms.\n\nPäschke E.\, Marschalik P.\, Ow
