DESCRIPTION:The connection between a &nbsp\;pencil of quadrics with smooth
  base locus and the geometry&nbsp\;of the associated hyperrelliptic curve 
 is classical. We explain in this talk how to obtain period-index bounds fo
 r Brauer classes on the hyperrelliptic curve over a number field by findin
 g suitable Grassmannian of zeros of the base locus of the associated penci
 l of quadrics.
