DESCRIPTION:MANET protocols typically handle fairly stable and fully conne
cted networks whereas DTN protocols address the sparse intermittently conn
ected ones. But many intermediate situations may occur because of high mob
ility or radio link instability. In such cases where the network splits fr
equently into evolving connected groups none of the conventional routing p
aradigms (DTN or MANET) are fully satisfactory. This talk will present HYM
AD\, a Hybrid MANET-DTN routing protocol which uses MANET routing within d
isjoint groups of nodes while using DTN routing between these groups. The
strength of HYMAD lies in its ability to adapt to the changing connectivit
y patterns of the network. We evaluate the scheme on real life traces of a
roller blade tour in Paris which exhibit this highly dynamic connectivity
 .
