DESCRIPTION:The n-gonal construction associates to an étale double cover 
 of an n-gonal curve a new curve of gonality 2^n. For  n = 2\,3\,4 the Prym
  varieties and Jacobians of the input data and the output are closely rela
 ted. In an ongoing joint project with Dmitry Zakharov we are describing a 
 purely tropical analog of this construction. In this talk I will give an i
 ntuition about the construction as well as a motivating example that sugge
 st a strong connection to Prym varieties.
