DESCRIPTION:The UK Ministry of Defence is increasingly opening the support
of military systems to private companies. One example is ATTAC (Availabil
 ity Transformation: Tornado Aircraft Contracts)\, a ten-year\, whole-aircr
aft availability contract where BAE Systems take prime responsibility to p
rovide Tornado bomber aircraft with depth support and upgrades\, incentivi
zed to achieve defined levels of available aircraft\, spares\, and technic
al support at a target cost.\n\nThis presentation explores the relationshi
ps between the on and off base providers and clients. In this environment
the provider manages combinations of their own and client staff at the cli
ent’s base in facilities provided by the client. The provider is therefo
re dependent on actions by the client to fulfil the contract. The on base
location can be regarded as the front office for both client and provider
where most client value is co-produced and perhaps co-created. However\, o
ff base (back office) client and provider organizations are also required
to support on base activity. The particular contribution of this research
is its focus on developing a novel mapping that help illustrate the interf
aces that emerge from such contracts and suggest opportunities for new res
ource configurations and integration mechanisms to co-create value.\n\nBas
ed on work with Glenn Parry & Valerie Crute (University of Bath\, UK )\n
