DESCRIPTION:The Central Limit Theorem is an example of the ubiquitous\,\ny
 et still surprising\, phenomenon in probability that many independent rand
 om inputs often combine to give an output insensitive to the input distrib
 utions\n \n\nWe will explore how this phenomenon plays out in\nthe constru
 ction of random abelian groups from random integral matrices. As an examp
 le we will see the probability\, as n tends to infinity\, that a random li
 near map Z^(n+1) -> Z^n is surjective.  \n\n \n\n(This talk includes joint
  work with Hoi Nguyen.)\n\n \n\n\n
