DESCRIPTION:Tropical curves are piecewise linear analogues of algebraic cu
rves that share many of their properties. The tropical correspondence theo
rem of Mikhalkin and Nishinou-Siebert states that rational plane curves th
rough general points can be counted tropically. Another natural enumerativ
e problem is the count (relative/log GW invariant) of plane curves interse
cting a fixed elliptic curve in exactly one (unspecified) point. In this t
alk I will explain the tropical analogue of this counting problem.
