SUMMARY:Single Cell Technologies : A Bioinformatician’s perspective - Dr
Abigail Edwards\, Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute

DESCRIPTION:In recent years single cell technologies have taken off moving
from niche studies to mainstream tools for exploring our biology. They ha
ve allowed us to gain a far more granular knowledge of the landscape of th
e tissues we are studying and uncover the intricacies of the heterogeneity
it was previously difficult to pull apart.\n\nHowever\, this increased re
solution doesn’t come without its pitfalls (and money traps). As in any
new field opinions are ever changing\, methods are moving quickly\, and it
can be difficult to determine how you should design and analyse your expe
riment. \n\nAs a part of the Bioinformatics Core at the CRUK Cambridge Ins
titute\, Dr Edwards regularly collaborates on single cell experiments and
teaches single cell RNASeq analysis methods at the Bioinformatics training
facility at the University of Cambridge. She will discuss the current sta
te of the field and how to get the best out of your single cell experiment
 .\n
