model development and usage - Ed Blockley (Met Office)

DESCRIPTION:Sea ice is an important component of the climate system and an
adequate representation of sea ice is crucial for modelling changes to th
e Earth's climate. In this talk we provide an overview of the way sea ice
models are used for large-scale climate modelling and discuss several chal
lenges for the use\, evaluation\, and development of sea ice model compone
nts used this way - including internal variability\, coupled feedbacks\, a
 nd remote drivers.
