DESCRIPTION:Yevgeny Aksenov amd Stefanie Rynders\nIn the study we present
the development of a large scale coupled sea ice-waves-ocean global modell
ing framework based on the NEMO ocean\, CICE sea ice and WW3 wave models.
We discuss examples demonstrating how model simulations can be used to ass
ess impacts of sea ice changes in the Arctic for the Earth climate system
and for maritime industries and society.\nThe study is aimed at improving
coupling between Earth System Model components (e.g.\, sea ice\, ocean mix
ing\, carbon and nutrient fluxes from land\, ocean biogeochemistry). It ex
tends model capabilities in generating model data needed for applications
such as forecasting\, mapping risks for shipping and offshore operations\,
and for impact of sea ice changes on coastal permafrost erosion in the Ar
ctic. We provide discussion and outlook for the future research.
