DESCRIPTION:The thin ice covering the polar oceans is a complex geomateria
 l that experiences rheological transitions between a brittle solid state\,
  such as in the pack\, and a dense or loose granular regime\, such as in a
 ctive shear zones or the MIZ. This talk will present some ongoing work tha
 t aims to improve both the physical and numerical representation of these 
 transitions in the framework of a continuum\, elasto-viscous-brittle model
