DESCRIPTION:Sea ice attenuates waves propagating from the open ocean. Here
we model the evolution of unidirectional waves in the marginal ice zone w
ith a nonlinear Schr&ouml\;dinger equation (dNLS)\, with a frequency depen
dent dissipative term consistent with current model paradigms and recent f
ield observations. We use the dNLS to investigate the dynamics of perturbe
d regular waves (i.e. modulational Instability) and random sea states.
