 ic development offers a direct means to test the proposals\nmade from geno
 mic and proteomic analyses.\n\n– Single cell imaging is the correct scal
 e of analysis for development as can capture\nthe function of gene regulat
 ory networks.\n\n– To avoid ambiguous results\, in vivo imaging requires
  more rapid acquisition of 3-D datasets\, challenging both microscope desi
 gn and data analysis tools.
