DESCRIPTION:The behaviour of quantum fields around black holes has been in
the forefront of research for almost half a century\, since the discovery
of Hawking radiation in 1974. However\, we still know remarkably little a
bout the details of the evaporation of black holes beyond first order appr
oximations. My talk will introduce our novel formalism using which a fully
quantum mechanical field can be simulated to collapse into a black hole\,
and discuss how the quantum effects can be studied. It will be explained
how we relate the semiclassical simulations to purely classical ones using
a coherent state as the chosen quantum state. Initial results of the quan
tum effects around the formed black hole will be presented as well.
