DESCRIPTION:If one tries to do homological algebra with topological object
s (for example\, topological abelian groups or topological vector spaces)\
, one runs into problems almost immediately. In this talk\, I will discuss
what these problems are\, how the formalism of condensed mathematics rece
ntly developed by Clausen-Scholze addresses them\, and give an overview of
the main elements of this theory. If time permits\, I will honour the nam
e of this seminar and talk about some of the applications to (analytic) ge
 ometry.
