DESCRIPTION:As we celebrate the International Year of Astronomy we see the
  impact computers have had on astronomy and education over the last decade
 . The WorldWide Internet has opened up opportunities to share data anywher
 e but the tools to do this are still in their infancy. Microsoft Research 
 WorldWide Telescope's goal is to take the friction out of sharing and visu
 alizing astronomy data. With dedicated 3D visualization client\, a rich cr
 oss-platform web based client and customizable tools that allow astronomer
 s to create custom applications with ease\, WWT allows the integration of 
 multi-spectral images\, catalogs and multimedia to enable research and edu
 cation without sacrificing beauty and easy of use.
