DESCRIPTION:This week\, the book club starts a new book. David MacKay's\n\
 n*Information Theory\, Inference\, and Learning Algorithms* (ITILA)\n\nThi
 s week's first meeting will be partly devoted to administrative issues. Th
 e time slot for future sessions will be fixed and formats for the sessions
  agreed. David's book is written in a quite different style than the books
  we discussed previously: Chapters are short\, with lots of exercises. The
  format of the book club will mirror this by focusing more on examples and
  exercises.\n\nIn the remaining time\, we will discuss chapter 1 (pages 1 
 to 21)\, in particular exercises 1.6 and 1.8\n\n_If you cannot make it to 
 the meeting but would be interested to attend regularly if it were at a di
