DESCRIPTION:Diluted soliton gas (SG) has been first investigated by V. Zak
harov in 1971 : the diluted SG corresponds to a random ensemble of soliton
s weakly interacting and characterized by a probability density function o
f their (spectral) parameters. This concept has been extended to dense SG
in which the solitons strongly overlap and continuously and strongly inter
 act [G. El and A. Tovbis\,\nPhysical Review E\, 101\,7\,2020]. We review t
he recent experimental results on the controled generation and analysis of
SG by using direct and inverse scattering transform.
