DESCRIPTION:If a space can be covered by few subsets with amenable fundame
 ntal group\, there are strong vanishing results for several invariants: si
 mplicial volume\, L^2-Betti numbers\, and homology growth. We study the mi
 nimal number of such subsets needed to cover a space\, the so-called amena
 ble category. By considering aspherical spaces we obtain an invariant of d
 iscrete groups and we will compute this number for right-angled Artin grou
 ps.
