DESCRIPTION:Najaf Haider is a professor of Medieval and early Modern Histo
 ry of India at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Haider graduated 
 from Aligarh Muslim University and obtained a doctoral degree from the Uni
 versity of Oxford in Mughal History. He was Samir Shamma Fellow at St. Cro
 ss College and visiting professor at the University of Vienna and Universi
 ty of Bonn. Haider is on the editorial board of International Journal of A
 sian Studies\, Cambridge University Press. He has published on monetary ec
 onomy\, communication and conflict\, secretarial classes\, history of Delh
 i\, and intellectual history of Islam. He is currently working on ‘The L
 egal Framework of Commercial Transactions in Medieval India’ for the Cam
 bridge History of International Law.
