DESCRIPTION:Sustainable agrifood systems are critical to averting climate-
 driven social and ecological disasters\, overcoming the growth paradigm an
 d redefining the interactions of humanity and nature in the twenty-first c
 entury. This Perspective describes an agenda and examples for comprehensiv
 e agrifood system redesign according to principles of sufficiency\, regene
 ration\, distribution\, commons and care. This redesign should be supporte
 d by coordinated education and research efforts that do not simply replica
 te dominant discourses on food system sustainability but point towards a p
 ost-growth world in which agroecological life processes support healthy co
 mmunities rather than serving as inputs for the relentless pursuit of econ
 omic growth
