DESCRIPTION:Professsor Haresh Shah has been a pioneer in the fields of ris
 k analysis\, earthquake engineering\, and\nprobabilistic methods for over 
 35 years. He has served Stanford University in many capacities\,\nincludin
 g Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering and Founding Director of
  the John A. Blume\nEarthquake Engineering Center. He has worked with UNES
 CO and several countries to develop\nbuilding codes and earthquake design 
 criteria. In 2006\, the 100-year anniversary of the Great 1906\nSan Franci
 sco Earthquake\, Professor Shah was given the unique award of ‘Top Seism
 ic Engineer of\nthe Twentieth Century’ by the Applied Technology Council
 /Engineering New Record.
