DESCRIPTION:A significant category of problems in soil dynamics involves e
 stimation of damage or vibration levels at a point some distance from an e
 nergy source. Usually some kind of attenuation relations or geometrical pr
 ediction is adequate to give reasonable predictions\, although these gener
 ally assume radial symmetry\, which is frequently not appropriate. Some in
 teresting examples of such case histories are described\, including the us
 e of "VibroSeis" trucks for geophysical exploration.\n
