SUMMARY:Multivariable Control in 40 Minutes - Prof. Jan Maciejowski\, Emer
itus Professor of Control Engineering\, Cambridge University

DESCRIPTION:This is a tutorial talk\, originally given to control engineer
s in the automotive industry. It gives a very high-level overview of multi
variable control (and\, at the same time\, of robust control). It assumes
that the audience is familiar with single-input single-output control desi
gn\, roughly at the level of the CUED IB course "Linear Systems and Contro
l" (Nyquist theorem\, Bode plots\, stability margins). Also a little famil
iarity with state-space systems will be useful but not necessary. The talk
may be helpful for orientation of new research students embarking on the
first-year Reading Club.\n\nThe seminar will be held in LR5 \, Baker Build
ing\, Department of Engineering\, and online (zoom): https://us06web.zoom.
