DESCRIPTION:I shall present two approaches to including the electron-elect
ron\ninteraction in theoretical descriptions of quantum transport of\nelec
trons through extended leads which connect a central device to\nreservoirs
. For the steady-state response to small applied voltages\,\nthe conducta
nce may be written exactly in terms of the density\nresponse function\, wh
ich in turn may be directly calculated using\nmany-body perturbation theor
 y or time-dependent density-functional\ntheory (TDDFT) [1]. For the respo
nse (transient or steady-state) to\nthe application of larger voltages\, w
e introduce the construction of a\nstroboscopic wavepacket basis set\, fac
ilitating physically transparent\nand numerically efficient calculations [
