DESCRIPTION:Cardiac tissue displays a bifurcation in electrical response a
t rapid pacing rates. Traditionally\, this bifurcation has been explained
in terms of the slope of the restitution curve\, a function that relates t
he response duration to the duration of the interval preceding it. However
\, we have recently observed that this curve is not a single-valued functi
on under a wide range of physiological conditions. We will show examples o
f this restitution curve splitting and discuss the implications.
