 alk will examine how approaches such as ‘big data’ and new ways of del
 ivering clinical trials can improve current services for older people with
  mental illness (jam today) and identify and deliver new treatments in the
  future (jam tomorrow).\n\nDr Ben Underwood \nDirector of Research & Devel

 PFT\n\nBen studied natural science at Oxford University and medicine at St
  Bartholomew’s Hospital in London.  He completed his psychiatric trainin
 g in Cambridge where he also undertook a PhD in molecular neurogenetics wi
 th Professor David Rubinsztein\, looking at autophagy as a therapeutic str
 ategy in neurodegeneration.  He is assistant professor in applied and tran
 slational old age psychiatry at the University of Cambridge\, an honorary 
 consultant old age psychiatrist and R and D director at CPFT.  His interes
 ts are in translational medicine in dementia where he has been PI for acad
 emic and pharma led clinical trials of novel CTIMPs.  He is clinical direc
 tor of the Windsor research unit\, a facility dedicated to joining NHS pat
 ients with clinical research.  He is the NIHR CRN dementia lead for the ea
 st of England and national dementia lead for stratified medicine. During t
 he coronavirus pandemic his working life took an unexpected turn when he b
 ecame a co-investigator on a number of coronavirus studies\, including the
  Oxford/Astra Zenica vaccine study. Along with Mark Toshner he delivers th
 e Cambridge Advance online course in novel clinical trial design in transl
 ational medicine at the University of Cambridge.\n\nRegister in advance fo
