DESCRIPTION:Development of therapeutic applications of ultrasound has been
rapidly increasing for some years. One rapidly growing area of research\,
yet to reach full clinical translation is transcranial ultrasonic neuromo
dulation\, which has potential as a noninvasive\, targeted therapy for tre
atment of neurological and psychiatric disorders\, and as a tool for incre
asing our understanding of the brain.\n\n\n\nI will introduce my current w
ork on therapeutic applications of ultrasound\, from noninvasive ultrasoni
c neuromodulation\, to ablative therapies\, and development of a novel tec
hnique for rewarming of biological cells and tissues after cryopreservatio
 n. All of which is underpinned by measurement and simulation of ultrasound
fields\, development and characterisation of ultrasound devices\, and mea
surement of the acoustic properties of materials.\n\n
