DESCRIPTION:*Theme: Adaptive Brain Computations*\n\n*Abstract:* Maladaptiv
e emotional memories contribute to the persistence of numerous mental heal
th disorders\, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)\, drug addi
ction and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Using rodent behavioural mo
dels of the psychological processes relevant to these disorders\, it is po
ssible to identify potential treatment targets for the development of new
therapies\, including those based upon disrupting the reconsolidation of m
aladaptive emotional memories. Using examples from rodent models relevant
to multiple mental health disorders\, this talk will consider some of the
opportunities and challenges that this approach provides.\n\n*Biorgraphy:*
Amy Milton is a University Professor in Behavioural Neuroscience in the De
partment of Psychology at the University of Cambridge\, and Director of th
e Cambridge MiND (Memories in Neuropsychiatric Disorders) Lab. Her researc
h focuses on the neurochemical and molecular mechanisms underlying memory
reconsolidation\, and their exploitation to develop new treatments for men
tal health disorders. She also has a strong interest in the development of
translationally relevant models of mental health disorders\, and facilita
ting dialogue between basic and clinical neuroscientists working in mental
health. Amy's research\, funded by the Medical Research Council\, the Wel
lcome Trust and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
\, has applications to mental health disorders including drug addiction\,
 post-traumatic stress disorder\, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.\n\nReg
